Many
people think of fire prevention and fire safety once a year -- in
October during fire prevention week. The members of the Lansdowne
Fire Company want the public to think of fire prevention and fire
safety all year long.
The
Lansdowne Fire Company has a very progressive and on going fire
prevention and fire safety program, this program which includes
firehouse tours and visits to schools and community groups. Although
the majority of these programs are done in September and October
fire prevention and safety programs are available year round.

fire prevention team of the Lansdowne Fire Company schedules and
presents all fire safety programs in the Borough. These programs
are suitable for all ages and can be brought to your location or
done at the firehouse. Last year the Fire Company won an honorable
mention at the State Firefighters Convention for the presentation
of fire prevention programs. Not only does the fire prevention
team present these programs, but they also schedule the annual
fire prevention show at the firehouse during Fire Prevention Week.
This annual event includes fire safety presentations and demonstrations.
The firefighters show how they use their firefighting and rescue
skills, and members of the public can tour the firehouse and fire
and EMS equipment. |
The
fire
prevention team of the Lansdowne Fire Company reminds everyone
that fire prevention should be practiced every day by everyone.
To keep your home safe we recommend the following:
Install
smoke detectors on every level of your home and test the
batteries at least twice a year.
Install
carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your home and
test them at least twice a year.
Practice
Exit Drills In Your Home (EDITH) and know what to do and
where to go if fire strikes your house.
In
an emergency dial 911.
