Saturday, December 19, 2009 - Last night at about 10:45 Companies 19, 16(Yeadon), 24(East Lansdowne), RIT 09(Sharon Hill), and Medic 105(Fitz Hospital Medics) were alerted to Baltimore and Highland for the working building fire. As Chief 19(T. Young Sr.) left the station he observed fire through the roof of the Dunkin" Donuts down the street from Station 19. Engine 19 arrived and went in service with a 2 1/2" line to attack the fire. The bulk of the fire was located in the roof area of the building. Crews attempted to open the roof and an interior attack as well but because of heavy fire damage to the roof structure crews were evacuated from the roof and building. Company 3(Clifton Heights) was special called. The fire was placed under control in about 30 minutes. Crews remained on scene for several hours for overhaul and to assist the fire investigators. Cover at Station 19 was provided by Engine 06(Collingdale 1), Truck 63(Green Ridge) and Rescue 44(Springfield).
